roadtriiiippin'

First off, I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARLEE AND KIRSTEN!
Harlee liked her present I guess, and Kirsten's will be arriving by mail within the next week hopefully.

Next, the last couple days have been pretty good. Classes are okay, I get very pissed at my lit teacher, but I'm alright. I went and got a nose stud changed to a different kind of jewelry yesterday because it was swelling because of the cold, and as my piercer put it "your nose is pissed." All is well now. It looks a lot less angry.

This evening, well around 2, Val, Rachel, and possibly others and I are headed to Seattle. We just wanted to get out of Tacoma. We're going to go shopping and then go eat dinner with Mariska and head back to school to sleep. It should be a jolly good time. Hopefully I can take some pictures, although I haven't decided if I'm taking my cam cam or not.

Love you all, and once again, Happy Birthday Kirsten (and Harlee). <3

namasté betches!

Yoga, oh Yoga. It is a class that I enjoy and find hysterical at the same time. We spent a lot of time doing things that were difficult for me, not only because I am lacking flexibility and balance, but because I am poorly proportioned. My stubby arms and looooong legs do not allow me to touch the ground with my hands during this pose. I instead wobble about and try not to topple over and send the whole class down like dominoes. I couldn't stop laughing, because such words as "sit-bone" are used to describe what I like to call my bum. At the end, she told us to thank our bodies for allowing us to do this, and thank ourselves for participating. I could barely contain myself. I really enjoyed it though. I feel like it will be very good for me. The only thing that could possibly be a problem is the relaxed/exhausted state that that class leaves me in. I travel to French tired and relaxed, essentially ready for a nap. It could potentially be bad. I suppose I shall see.

In other news, sorry I forgot to call you back mum. I'll try to call you back in the morning or around noon-1. I looked at my clock and it said 8:51 and decided you might be in bed before 10.

I'll try to post again tomorrow! <3

Vercingétorix!

Im sitting in the library, watching the snow fall down outside my the window. It is grey, windy, and cold. But at least I'm doing something. I'm here with my friends, and I am once again engaging my brain and trying to undo the atrophy that happened to my thinking muscle while I was at home. I miss my family and I'm especially sad that I'm missing Harlee's birthdaaaay. I wish I could go swimming with my Magoo, but alas, she will simply have to enjoy the fabulous birthday presents and Valentine's day present that I got/made for her.

I thought I'd post a run-down of all the classes I'm taking at Mum's insistence that I update my blog.

Child Developmental Psychology: This should be a pretty good class. The teacher seems very nice and understand. The subject matter is also interesting. I'm hoping to get a feel for my interest level in psychology, because it is a subject that I've always sort of considered as a possible career at the back of my mind.

Arguing Through Literature: This class may or may not be torture. I'm taking it with my friend Val, and the first class period was basically the teacher reading about 5 pages of a novel and explaining it sentence-by-sentence. It was horrible. I switched into this class from my health risk messages class because that was basically my public communication campaigns class from last semester at a lower level, which I wasn't interested in. I thought I'd get a literature class under my belt for fun before I becam
e way too involved in my major.

Survey of Communication Inquiry: I'm looking forward to this class. It seems very interesting and it delves fairly deep into how technology has influenced modern communications. Our first homework was reading about and watching an episode of the Daily Show, and we watched another episode in class. That is a very good sign.

Yoga: The teacher seems a little bit pretentious, but I'll put up with it. I'm excited for
this, it is something I've never done and it is something I'm doing with friends.

French Culture and Civilization: I've basically taken this class in the form of both last year's French class as well as European History, which is excited, however there is a catch: this class, lectures, presentations, readings and all, is in French. At the end of the semester we
have to do an oral presentation and turn in a paper that we will spend the entire sem working on. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Pretty much anything is available. But, good news, we get to learn about the foxy fellow on the right.

We'll see how it all goes. I've already finished all my English homework for tomorrow and I am started on my French. I hope everyone has a good week, and I hope I'll get to update soon! <3

What an excellent question...

Well... here we are... Thursday night, and I'm starting to prepare for my trip back to Seattle. I've had a surprisingly good break, fairly drama-free. Mum and I have spent a good bit of time sitting on the couch, watching movies, doing crafty things, and just enjoying each other's company. It has been very nice. I've caught up on my sleep, restocked on a lot of stuff I need, and spent plenty of time with the kiddos.

I'm ready to go back through. I'm ready to get my brain working again, and to see my friends. This 4 months is sure to go as fast as the last 4, and I'll be back to spend more time with the fam in no time. Hopefully Kirsten gets the manage the comfort inn, and that way I could maybe get a job there.

I'll try to post some more of the photos from my journey here before my journey back. <3

A Christmas Present.

Now that Margaret actually received her present, I can now post pictures of the sweater that I decorated for her. She loves whales, so that seemed the way to go.

Also there is a sad, backwards pictures of the knuckle-tat gloves I made for Val and Ishka for Christmas. Mariska's said "220!" (her lucky debate number) and "rad!" because when I asked randomly what she would get if she got knuckle tattoos, that is what she said. Val's said "mexi""thug."

Creatures!

These are the wee friends I've made since being home. 2 crazy critters and a horse. I also made a small round kitty with a bell.

My Bag!

It is finished! The bag I dreamt of since... Tuesday! I bought the fabric yesterday, and using this tutorial and this readjustment I have conquered. It was pretty easy once I figured out that I had the strap pinned on upside down (because I couldn't tell from the photo) and that it had to be pinned the OTHER way so that it didn't get caught between the outer part of the bag and the liner. I started by cutting out 14 pieces of fabric, enough to make a liner as well as an outer bag and a strap. My bag measures about 16 inches long, 11 inches deep, and about 4 inches wide. I then sewed the outer part of the bag together. The sides and bottom were sewn into one long strip which I then attached the "front" and "back" pieces to. After that, I pinned on a flap and a strap. I sewed the liner the exact same way as the outside, except I left a hole in the bottom of the liner. I put the outer bag inside the liner, right sides together. I stitched around the top, and then pulled both bags through the hole in the bottom of the liner. They ended up right (after the strap ordeal) and I stitched the liner shut, ironed the seams, and started taking pictures! In this picture, it is holding my Mac, several magazines, a box of coloured pencils, a couple of books, and a box of embroidery floss. It is a very spacious sack!

I'll have some more stuff up soon. I took pictures of all the sock animals I've been crafting. Maybe this summer, if I keep up the craftin', I'll open my own etsy store and make a little extra moolah!

revamp and utter craftiness!

Everyone like the revamp of my blog? I'm going to try and work in more colour as time goes on, but for now, I'm excited about the pink and white. I was inspired by my two new favorite craft blogs How About Orange and Tiny Happy. They have some really really great crafty things, and I can see myself making a lot of what they have on their sites. How about orange has given me some Amazing and Fabulous ideas and links, and Tiny Happy has inspired me to try my hand at sewing and embroidery. Both blogs are all about vintage fabric, funky buttons, and inspired projects with that great, dorky, homemade feel. I'll put up pictures soon, but I've been working away at creating presents for people as well as sock animals galore! My next projects are these two bags (messenger and hobo) for which I bought fabric today. I got some suit-looking material and some great red-pink brocade with gold cherry blossoms. All I need now is a button as cool as in this picture, and I'll be in business! I'm so excited about all my hand made fun-stuff.
I get my wisdom toofs out on Friday. That should be buckets of fun. I'll let you know how it goes.
